Born in Novara, Italy, in 1990, Aleck Carratta began to play piano at “Civico Istituto Musicale Brera” with Alessandro Maffei at the age of eight. In 2001 he entered the Conservatorio “Guido Cantelli” in Novara where he graduated in 2011 under the guidance of Alessandro Commellato (110 with honours). Afterwards he obtained the “Master of Arts in Musikalischer Performance Klassik” at the “Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel” under the instruction of Filippo Gamba (2013). He continued to study in Germany at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg” with Ralf Nattkemper earning another Master's degree in Piano Performance (2015). Additionally he attended the “Hochschule der Künste” in Zurich, where he obtained the Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy under Eckart Heiligers (2017).
Aleck Carratta also took part in many piano masterclasses with well-known teachers such as Lilya Zilberstein, Roberto Plano, Filippo Gamba, Aleksandar Madžar, and Christian Zacharias.
In 2009 he played a piano quartet at the music festival in Bobbio (Piacenza) with Simone Bernardini (member of the “Berliner Philharmoniker”), Andreas Willwohl (Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra) and Ulrike Hofmann (Berlin Oriol Ensemble). He also performed Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto in the auditorium of the Conservatorio Guido Cantelli in Novara, and Mozart’s piano concerto KV 415 with the “Totem Youth Orchestra” in Magenta, Italy. In 2011 he collaborated with two other pianists on a CD project, where he premiered a recording of pieces by Guglielmo Andreoli, Carlo Andreoli and Guglielmo Andreoli Jr., a family of composers from Mirandola, for the Phoenix record label. He also performed chamber music pieces in the well-known “Teatro La Fenice” in Venice and as soloist in the auditorium of the Conservatorio „Giuseppe Verdi“ in Turin.
He also performed several duo concerts with violinist Reeta Aho in Finland and as piano-duo with Fiore Favaro in Mexico, Hungary, Switzerland and Italy. In 2018 he founded the “Aléan Duo” with cellist Ana Turkalj; together they were selected as prizewinners at the “Orpheus – Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2019”, which led to an invitation to perform at the renowned “Swiss Chamber Music Festival” in Adelboden (this festival has received the EFFE-Label 2019-2020 from the European Festivals Association, as the most important platform for arts festivals in Europe). Furthermore in 2020 he also founded the “Alman Trio” with Ana Turkalj and the violinist Momoko Kawamoto: with them already performed in Japan and Switzerland.
